Approach
In conventional medicine, migraine is typically viewed as an isolated headache problem that should primarily be treated with medication. Within these specialties, there is often too little time to dig deeper into the root causes and to explore what’s really going on in your whole system. At the Functional Migraine Clinic, we do take that deeper approach.
I consciously focus on an integrative method: I don’t just look at your head, but also at your hormones, nutrition, stress, sleep, and personality – all the interconnected elements. This way, we approach migraine as a signal that something is out of balance on multiple levels, rather than simply labeling it as “headache.”
What conventional medicine often lacks, I do offer:
In-depth analysis of your daily habits
I take the time to map out your nutrition, sleep, hormones, personality, and stress factors. This forms the foundation for targeted adjustments that can reduce the frequency and intensity of your headaches.
Intensive personal guidance
I offer not only practical coaching and support with lifestyle changes but also “deep learning”: you don’t just learn whatto do, but also how and why certain choices impact your migraine. By understanding the complex interactions in your body and brain, you can take meaningful, motivated steps toward lasting change. That difference – truly understanding – is what makes sustainable transformation possible.
Science-based, practically applicable
My approach is inspired by insights from psycho-neuro-immunology and functional medicine, among others. At the same time, I translate these theories into manageable steps so you can easily integrate them into your daily life.
Collaboration with medical professionals
If needed, I collaborate with neurologists and (integrative) physicians who share my vision for additional testing, medication support, or bloodwork. This ensures a safe and well-thought-out holistic solution.
At the Functional Migraine Clinic, we view your migraine through the lens of orthomolecular medicine and psycho-neuro-immunology. These complementary approaches aim to help you gain control over your migraines by addressing deep-rooted causes – without medication. In doing so, we’re not just treating your migraine, but also supporting the underlying systems that improve your overall health.
Orthomolecular Medicine

Orthomolecular medicine—derived from the Greek “ortho,” meaning “correct, healthy, or right” - focuses on restoring a healthy balance in the body and mind by using the right molecules, in the proper proportions.
This approach includes interventions based on nutrition, exercise, intermittent living, and the supplementation of essential vitamins and minerals, all tailored to you as a unique individual.
Psycho Neuro Immunology
Psycho-neuro-immunology (PNI) builds upon orthomolecular medicine. We don’t just look at the “snapshot” of migraine (what happens when you have a migraine), but at the entire “film” of your health.
It is an interdisciplinary field that focuses on the complex interactions between the mind (psycho), the nervous system (neuro), the immune system (immunology), hormones (endocrinology), the metabolic system, genetics and even sociology. It studies how emotions, thoughts, and stress can influence the body’s physiological processes and is based on the most recent scientific publications in the medical field.
